About Us
Driven by passion
In the heart of Femmøller, where the sea breeze meets the forests of Mols, a dream from far beyond Denmark found its home.
L’abacate Café was born from a passion for culture, craftsmanship, and the simple joy of sharing food made with love.
Behind the café is Marilia Gazola — a woman whose journey began in Brazil and crossed through Italy, Central America, and finally Denmark. With a background in languages, teaching, and gastronomy, she carried with her not only recipes, but stories, traditions, and memories from many parts of the world.
What started as a dream of creating something warm and meaningful soon became a family adventure. Together with her husband Esben, her children Clara and Atilio, and Indi, Atilio’s wife. Marilia transformed a local café into a vibrant meeting place where cultures blend naturally — Brazilian warmth, Italian baking traditions, Nordic simplicity, and the welcoming spirit of Denmark.
At L’abacate Café, everything is created with intention. The breads are handcrafted from scratch, inspired by traditional Italian sourdough methods. Brazilian delicacies like pão de queijo and brigadeiros share the table with flaky croissants, refined pastries, artisan cakes, and specialty coffee. Every recipe reflects the café’s philosophy: authentic flavours, quality ingredients, and food that brings people together.
But L’abacate Café is more than a café.
It is a home for creativity, conversation, and community. Local artists fill the walls with colour and expression. Seasonal gatherings, art bazaars, and celebrations bring people together throughout the year. Guests arrive for coffee and cake, but stay for the atmosphere — the feeling of warmth, calm, and connection that lives in every corner of the café.
The name “L’abacate,” inspired by the Portuguese word for avocado, reflects the café’s soul: natural, vibrant, nourishing, and full of life. It symbolizes the blend of cultures and flavours that define the experience created by Marilia and her family.
Today, L’abacate Café stands as a small piece of Brazil in Denmark — a place where handcrafted food, meaningful moments, and multicultural traditions come together around one table.
Every loaf baked, every coffee served, and every guest welcomed carries the same belief:
Food is not only something we taste.
It is something we remember.
